The Kiwanis Club of Greater Palm Harbor is part of an international group of volunteers who strive to improve the world one community and one child at a time. We understand that at times to help a child we must also help the family, which we are happy to do. We are proud of our long history of assisting children in Pinellas County.
Some our past and present projects include; donating food for The Feast Food Bank. We have assisted the YMCA stuffing backpacks with school supplies and giving them to local needy children. We secured a $10,000.00 grant from the Florida Kiwanis Foundation for Wheelchair 4 Kids. Elisa Nelson Elementary was given a Mini Grant to purchase the tools needed for sensory approach and instructional strategies for students with dyslexia. We also volunteer as needed with this group. We donated office and cleaning supplies for The House of Mercy and Encouragement during Covid. We helped build toys for hospitalized children with The Toy Makers of East Lake. We are part of Adopt a Mile County street cleaning program with the Palm Harbor University High School Key Club. We made blankets for The Pinellas Sheriff’s Office and the Lutheran Services Florida to be used when children are removed from a home and in foster care and made baby blankets that were given to the Kimberly Home.
We provide our local schools with Service Learning Programs. At Palm Harbor University, Tarpon Springs, and Sun Lake High Schools we sponsor the Key Clubs. At Palm Harbor and Charles RusheMiddle Schools we sponsor the Builders Clubs. All these clubs teach leadership, character and the satisfaction gained from helping others. We believe that Service to Humanity is The Best Work of Life.
As you can see, we have ambitious plans for the coming years. If you’re a like-minded and enjoy helping others, please come and join us. You can contact Ele Fox 727-647-3365.
We meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month. Our meetings start at 6:30 p.m. at the Palm Harbor Chamber of Commerce, 1151 Nebraska Avenue in downtown Palm Harbor.
